“…they rehearsed all that God had done with them…” (Acts 14:27)
Jesus had one prayer request. Just one. “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38). The Savior understood that the great lack in the Lord’s work is simply and always a lack of gospel laborers.
Several people have asked me recently how they could pray specifically. Each week in our
Helping Your Joynewsletter we highlight a prayer point for those who pray for this ministry. But increasingly my answer to the question has been one thing - please help us pray for laborers.
Christ’s heart must capture ours! We must pray for laborers…and we must be willing to labor ourselves in answer to that prayer. Know that you are praying in the will of God as you pray the very words of Christ. Lord, send laborers into your harvest!
I believe we are seeing a definite answer to the prayer for laborers. In camps, youth meetings, school gatherings, and church services over the last quarter we have seen 65 young people publicly surrender their lives to the call of God for Christian ministry!
Just this week, 9 high school young men and women stood to their feet in a large audience of their peers to make known the Lord had called them to serve Him. It is our sincere desire to enlist new laborers and to encourage those who are already working in the harvest. God is opening so many doors to that end…
The REST Conference.
God gave us the largest group of preachers and their wives we have ever had at this year’s meeting. As we studied through the opening chapters of 2 Corinthians, the Holy Spirit ministered to us all. The fellowship with fellow servants and sweet times of prayer will long be remembered by those in attendance. Tammy and I hope you will plan to join us next year. This year’s sessions are being made available on the REST podcast and full details for the future can be found at therestconference.com.
The ETJ Young Preacher’s Summit.
My dear friend Pastor Kevan Bartlett encouraged us to do something for young preachers. How grateful I am for his suggestion and partnership! We worked with Pastor Jonathan Comer and the Greenbrier Christian Retreat to host the first of these retreats. 120 young preachers and their mentors attended and we praise God for their sincere hunger for truth! You can view a picture album from this event on our social media platforms. The next Summit will be held January 17-18 at the Indian Creek Baptist Camp in Mauckport, IN.
It has been a joy to speak in a number of Pastor’s fellowships and conferences over the last few weeks. God’s men need one another! Download How to Pray for the Preacher
and pray fervently for your pastor.
We have just launched a new section on our website specifically for preachers. EnjoyingTheJourney.org/preachers will provide resources and free downloads related to the study and preaching of God’s Word. New content is available now and we are very excited to post other helpful tools in the days ahead.
One of the annual opportunities we have to minister to ministers is the Southwide Baptist Fellowship coming up on October 14-16 in Murfreesboro, TN! You can view details and register at Southwidebaptist.org. It would be wonderful to see you there!
It has been a joy to preach more than 100 messages in 9 states over the last three months. To God be the glory, 91 souls have professed faith in the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit has sustained us day after day and I know it is in direct answer to the prayer of friends like you. We are privileged to labor alongside a host of faithful pastors and local churches.
Thank you for partnering with us for a great gospel advance in our generation. The harvest is great and the time is short. “Brethren, pray for us.”
Find resources to help you in your call to preach the Word! We want to come alongside you: Find tools, articles, ideas, downloads, Bible curriculum, the Preacher's Book List, teaching downloads, and more in this growing library at enjoyingthejourney.org/preachers
